There should be a connection point on the appliance. This needs to be hardwired into an electric box, often with a disconnect or breaker. In some cases you can buy or make a power cord that plugs into a dedicated outlet with a mating connection appropriate to the voltage and amperage requirements of the appliance. If the service does not already exist, you may want to employ an electrician.

In our homes the appliances are connected in parallel. Following are the reasons:

1 In parallel connection, all appliances work independently. If one appliance is switched off or fails , it does not affects the working of other appliances.

2 In parallel connection, as more and more appliances are added, the total resistance keeps on decreasing which allows more amount of current to flow

Single dedicated large load appliances are connected in series (240 volts). Small load appliances that are plug into receptacles (120 volts) are connected in a parallel circuits.
