Standard fluid should work, although we could be more accurate if I knew which model vehicle it is.
You will screw your steering system. You need to flush steering system ASAP. And of course do not drive with engine oil in steering.
In the steering wheel fluid reservoir, passenger side of engine. Add dextron transmission fluid to it not "steering wheel fluid"
Most likely a problem with the power steering pump or a power steering fluid leak. Check the power steering fluid is at required level. (Power steering fluid dipstick check should show between the Hot and Cold marks with engine running.) HTH, Red

In the power steering box. It is on the left side of the engine under the engine cover. It has a steering wheel on it.
On the left side of the engine compartment there is the reservoir for the power steering fluid. Make sure that you do not put steering fluid in the radiator reservoir.
This is electric power-assist, so it has no fluid reservoir
Power steering fluid is beside the windscreen washer resevoir on the front passenger side of the engine bay.
