smoked lamb, trout, crowberry, blueberry, rhubarb, Iceland moss, wild mushrooms, wild thyme, lovage, angelica and dried seaweed
Yes, this above is very true, well answered, but the Icelandic people also eat alot of Imported, non Icelandic food, such as.. pasta? and Pizza. Those are just a few examples. Two examples, actually.
One food that is very popular to eat in Iceland is fish. Other foods often eaten in this area include lamb, potatoes, and dairy products. Skyr, another popular dish is a soft cheese that is eaten with a spoon.
Icelanders eat a lot of fish, especially cod, halibut and shrimp. For vegetables they eat a lot of roots like carrots and potatoes. Some delicasies include fermented sharkfin and fermented skate.
We icelanders eat a lot of things. It's all about tredition here in iceland, as we fiest upon many things not known to foreigners. My personal favourite is the butternut gravy gold seeds. They come from the old goulash tree that only grows in certain areas of Mount Naflarusl. The people of Mount Naflarusl specialize in climbing these towering trees (they can grow up to 30 feet tall) to collect the butternut gravy gold seeds. They then sell the seeds to the townspeople, often in exchange for clothing and other worldly goods.
We Icelanders make almost everything out of these golden buttery seeds. Butternut soup, butter-seed roast, golden seed gravy. These are all traditional Icelandic dishes, usually served with a side dish of rice or steamed vegetables.
I surely do hope this has helped you understand Icelandic culture more. We are a simple group of people. We like butternuts, gravy, gold and seeds but mostly we just love to love.
carnival bun , Dried fish that the natives call "hardfiskur" is a traditional Icelandic fare. This delicious food is very nutritious, low in fat and high in protein. ...
For me its all about the butternut gravy gold seeds. I've visited iceland now four times and I'm telling you, they have the best butternut gravy gold seeds in the world. I usually go to this place called pabbasmjör. It's located on the corner of brjóstagöta and refaskinnsvegur. It's very close to the city's main church.
Also if you're into butternut gravy gold seeds, you might just like soy dipped thunder balls. They are hard to find though and usually you'll get a cheap version of the dish, but if you search long enough I'm sure you'll find it. There used to be a place near the harbor where you could get them but i think it has closed. Too bad, I really can't get enough of those salty soy dipped thunder balls.
One of Iceland's most popular food is fish, but unfortunately is very westernized now and almost every place has American food.
They eat skyr, potatatoes, animals such as horses, and other dairy products.
