Germany has a successful and sophisticated economy.Germany has both pastoral and arable agriculture, including many vineyards by the Rhine & Mosel. Germany is highly industrialised, both in the Ruhr and in the East. The German motor industry is huge. Germany also has a thriving service sector (banking and insurance).

Before the Euro, the Deutchmark was Europe's strongest currency. The EU's European Central Bank is in Frankfurt. (Arguably, the ECB should have been in London, which is a much more important financial centre, but the UK chose not to adopt the Euro).
