From the factory a lot of SPOT WELDS are used. That I know. Whenever you see a bunch of circles in line, spaced out, and at the joints of two surfaces-thats a spot weld.

For doing "re-word" or modifying, typically MIG is used for many applications. However, others can be used as well.

What are welding electrodes used for?

Welding Electrorodes or Welding Rods are used in arc welding. Arc welding is a special type of welding which uses a welding power supply to create an electric arc between the base material (e.g. steel) and the electrode. The Welding Ectrorodes can be used for all weldable aluminum and mild steel.

What are types of welding machines?

2 basic types, Gas shielding, and flux shielding. Gas shielding comes from compressed tanks of inert gas such as argon. these gases are pumped through the welding hose and over the weld pool. The flux type protects the weld by covering it in a layer of slag that prevent it from being contaminated by the surrounding air.
