There was no Europe as we know it it Roman times. The various parts of Europe were called by their provincial names, such as Hispania for Spain, Gallia for parts of France, Thrace for roughly Bulgaria, Britannia for Britain. The dividing lines between the provinces were not the same as present day countries either.

∙ 10y agoThe earliest known reference to the British isles was by a 4th century BC Greek geographer called Pytheas. he called these isles hai Brettaniai or Prettanike and their inhabitants Prettanoi or Pretani. This may have been the terms the Gauls used. He called Britain insula Albionum (as translated by Roman writers) island of the Albion, Ireland Ierne (sacred island) and the Irish Hiberni .
