Why did Marco Polo wanted to explore?

From the lighter side: Someone he could not see kept yelling, "Marco...". So he would move toward the voice and answer, "Polo...". And the rest, as they say, is history.

Marco Polo explored at age 17 because his mother died and his father was going back to the Mongol Emporer, the Great Khan. Khan liked youthful Marco Polo and had him work for him. Eventually Khan let Marco Polo, his father and uncle go back home. They brought with them riches. No one beleived them so he showed them the riches.... Jewels and stuff....
