The Vietnamese War was generally unpopular. It went on for a very long time, and didn't seem to be accomplishing anything. In the end, it really didn't accomplish anything, since South Vietnam was conquered by North Vietnam despite all US efforts to prevent that from happening. The US has very seldom lost any war, but it lost that one.
