Yes. Many were killed or lost family members. Many lived in fear of what could happen. People had to be more careful and they had to look after their own safety. It would have hardened their attitudes about the war.
It was very upsetting for children and adults because adults had to send their children to the country side and children had to stay their for a long time. Children had to live with other people and most of them would get sick because they've never been to the country side . Adults and Children sent letters to say how much they miss them. They wore gas masks. Adults had to fight in the war even when they weren't trained. Olderly people were taken away. I'm only 9 and I would know how it would be to be taken away from my family.
