The job that he excelled at was leading caravans. He was so much esteemed for his ability to get the goods to market (finding waterholes, fighting off bandits, knowing how to haggle and bribe when necessary) that he received the informal title of al-Amin, "the reliable." Word of his effectiveness reached the ears of a wealthy widow, Khadijah, who first employed, then married him. Theirs was a happy union. Though in later life Mohammed would have as many as fifteen wives in his harem, while she lived he was faithful to Khadijah.
Prophet Muhammad, PBUH, was a merchant, he 1st worked as sheep shepherd when he was young, then submitted to Quraysh merchandise trips when he grew up, till he received revelations of God.
Then after he immigrated to Medina (or Al Madina), he was then its organizer, judging, deciding, ruling and tracing the issues of his people, helping them with life and putting the rules of the ways people should treat each others with.
