Bantu migration was one of the reasons for Africa's diverse cultures and languages. As the Bantus migrated from Southern Africa northwards, they assimilated different people, and developed different languages, cultures, and dialects.

They farmed, raised cattle, and traded gond many Arab customs by the A.D. 1100s. The Swahili-speakers were sailors and traders. Archaeologists have found Chinese porcelain at Great Zimbabwe. y an Indian ocean trade network.
