In 1774, the colonies held the First Continental Congress. Representatives from each colony, except Georgia, met in Philadelphia. The royal governor in Georgia succeeded in blocking delegates from being sent to the congress.

The representatives gathered to discuss their response to the British "Intolerable Acts." Among other things, the acts closed the port of Boston.

They met to discuss their relationship with Britain, and how to assert their rights with the British government. They wanted to respond as united colonies. The Declaration of Rights and Grievances was addressed to the King, not parliament, because the colonies claimed Parliament did not represent them, since the colonists did not elect representatives to Parliament.

In retaliation, the King and Lord North of England decided to punish and weaken the colonies. They blocked colony access to the North Atlantic fishing area.
The First Contiental Congress was a group of delegates (a convention, really) from twelve of the thirteen colonies in the U.S. in the 1770's. They were Patriot leaders and would eventually play a part in the American Revolution. Some major and famous people in the Continental Congress were George Washington, the Commander in Chief of the Continental Army; John and Samuel Adams; and Thomas Jefferson, who wrote the Declaration of Independence. All together, there were 56 members.
The First Continental Congress was a meeting of delegates from twelve of the thirteen colonies that met on September 5 to October 26, 1774 at Carpenters' Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, early in the American Revolution.

First Continental Congress: a meeting of colonial delegates in Philadelphia to decide how to respond to the closing of Boston Harbor, increased taxes, and abuses of authority by the British government; delegates petitioned King George II, listing the freedoms they believed colonists should enjoy.

Found all of this in a textbook called: United States History: Independence to 1914

The FCC consisted of a lot of people, I couldn't possibly list them all. The FCC was created in the period of time 1774 to 1776. It was formed to stop a possible war between the American colonies and Britain. The FCC's goal was overall peace. The FCC came crashing down after the battle at Lexington, Concord, anf Ft. Ticonderoga.
