Sepoys were Indian soldiers

The result of their revolution was the disbanding of the East India Company and it also led to the British to reorganize the army, the financial system, and the administration of India.

The Sepoy rebellion was set off between the British and the Indians. Indian soldiers that worked for the British during the British rule were known as the sepoys. When British started to advance on their technology, they came up with new riffle carriages. The only thing was, to make it fire, it had to be greased with animal(pig) fat. It is against the Hindu religion to eat or taste any kind of animal. When they requested the British to use another riffle, their answer was no. The British forced the Indians to fire, and when they didn't, the British got mad. One Indian stood out (Mangal Pandey) and revolted. This is known as the Sepoy rebellion. So basically, it was a rebellion that was caused because of ignoring the local customs.
