God became rather massively redefined during the Enlightenment era: With the new found demand for justification, logic and reason behind why we do certain things, there was a dramatic decrease in traditional religion and an equally dramatic increase in what is referred to as "deism": The belief that there is probably a god, but that no religion has managed to define/explain it well enough and so they are generally discarded.
It was this era that saw the coining of the term "Nature's God", as used in a few important documents by America's founding fathers, not to imply a pagan "nature god", but rather the god, or organizing principle behind natural law (science).
all we see & feel is a myth. Only God is true. God can only be achieved by enlightenment.
Buddhism does not discuss the concept of god(s) except to say that enlightenment comes from one's own efforts not that of any deity.
Buddhists have no opinion on this question as they do not incorporate the concept of "god" into their beliefs. The presence or absence of any god(s) does not impact the imdividuals progress towards enlightenment. As a concept there is is no reason for buddhists to comment on god(s) any more than Christians would have a meaingful contribution to a Wiccan discussion on the purpose of moving widdershins about a central point during a ceremony.
Buddhism does not use the concept of salvation in its teaching. Salvation is a Christian concept that you must be judged and found worthy by a god, usually resulting from compliance with his rules. in Buddhism there is no god and no rule. There is also no heaven to go to. In Buddhism the closest thing to this concept is enlightenment. An achievement one gains after countless reincarnations. It is realized when everything "clicks" and you trials how to run your life properly without desire or suffering. This is personal achievement needing no god to help you. Death after enlightenment is the last and you may enter Nirvana a state of selfless existence where you blend seamlessly with everything. or you may chose to reenter the cycle of death and rebirth to aid others in their search for enlightenment.

A deist is a person who believes in a all powerful God, but not in a particular God from any one religion. George Washington was a deist.
It is commonly believed that there wouldn't BE any Enlightenment period if it wasn't for the Reformation brought about by God's leading Martin Luther (the reformer) out of the Catholic Church.
During the Great Awakening, the concept of God shifted towards a more personal and emotional relationship with God. Preachers emphasized the idea of individual salvation through intense emotional experiences like repentance and conversion. This led to a revival of religious fervor and an emphasis on spiritual renewal within the American colonies.
Apollo can be compared to Lucifer, the 'light bearer,' also our patron of enlightenment!
