The only type of electrochemical computer I am able to find references to in my library is called an Electrolytic Tank Analog Computer. These were a type of analog computer used to solve partial differential equations. They consisted of a tank of electrolyte (in many ordinary tap water was a satisfactory electrolyte) with plates at opposite ends of the tank to cause current flow. The partial differential equations were modeled by variations in depth of the tank and obstacles that the current had to flow around. The answer was read with a movable submersed probe to measure voltage at various points in the electrolyte.

I can't prove it is the earliest machine of this type, but the earliest one listed in the book I have is described in the Paris Academy of Sciences publication Comptes Rendus, Volume 106 on pages 645-648, in 1888 by Lucas. This machine does not seem to have had a name. Your library can probably get a copy of this for you, but you will have to be able to read French.

The next reference I find is dated 1913 in the American Electrochemical Society's publication Transactions, Volume 24 on pages 53-84.

Analog computers of this kind were used well into the 1960s. One of their most common uses was modeling of airflow around airplane wings, with current in the electrolyte being the analog of airflow (although with a minor rearrangement current in the electrolyte could instead be the analog of air pressure).

The Atanasoff-Berry Computer, which was developed at Iowa State College between 1937 and 1942.

The ABC was not programmable, was not a general-purpose computer. It solved systems of linear equations.

What name was given to the first computer?

The first electronic and digital computer is the Mark 1 Machine (also known as "Automatic Sequence Controlled Calculator").

Which computer is known as the first computer of the world?

It depends on what you mean by computer, but the first electronic, partly programmable computer was the colossus computer built by Tommy Flowers in 1943.

What city was the first computer made?

the first electronic digital computer was made in Ames, IA in 1942. the first analog computer known was made in one of the colony city states of greece in about 100BC.

Was the first computer the size of one and a half full-length basketball courts?

No. The first ever electronic computer, known as ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer) was invented at the University of Pennsylvania in 1946. It required a room 30' by 50' which, though large, is much smaller than even one basketball court.
