God did not split up languages.... language may never have been 'unified' in one first language, but there may have been separate and unconnected origins of speech and language. Many languages evolved out of other, earlier languages just as English is a blend of Latin, Germanic and old English with bits of others thrown in, and just as French, Spanish Portuguese and Italian can all trace their roots to Latin... which in turn shows connections with Greek. However there is no known link between the supposed ancestor-language of all these - proto-Indo-European.

Nor is there any known connection between proto-Indo-European and the supposed Australian aboriginal language Proto-Pama-Nyungan or the native American languages.

What is the curse of Babel?

Answer 1:I believe the curse of babel was when God split the languages on the tower of Babel. I hope this helped, but I'm not very sure!! :) Have a GREAT day!!Answer 2:People were constructing a tower that could reach the heavens because they believed they would be able to see God if they could build it high enough. It was called The Tower Of Babel. God became angry and cursed them by changing their languages to a language those around them could not understand. This created such confusion that they had to discontinue their venture. Hence "the curse of Babel".

Which of the religion come first Catholic or Ortodhox?

Roman Catholic AnswerThe Catholic Church was founded by God from the side of Jesus Christ hanging on the cross, and confirmed 50 days later by the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. The Orthodox Church was formed when the eastern Churches declared their independence from Rome in the twelve century - considerably later; so the Catholic Church was "first".

What language is Irish based on?

Irish is not based on any language, but it is a Celtic language, closely related to Scottish Gaelic and Manx, all of which came from a common Gaelic language called Middle Irish or Middle Gaelic that was spoken in the Middle Ages. The three languages were all mutually intelligible for centuries thereafter, but have since split into three distinct languages. Ultimately, all of them can be traced back to Proto-Celtic, which was the common Celtic language spoken in antiquity, from which not only the Gaelic languages, but also the Brythonic languages (Welsh, Cornish, and Breton), as well as a host of now-dead languages also descended.

All early human languages have now been recorded and translated?

No. No one knows what many early human languages were like. The Grimm brothers worked out the way languages change. It is possible to take their research and examine the sounds between closely related languages and determine their relationship and how long ago they split apart. It is not possible to reestablish their original language. It would take a large number of languages to reestablish an original language.

Before the Europeans settled, the land was split up into hundred of areas. Each tribe owned their own area. The further inland the tribe was, the more land they had. The aboriginals didn't have one common language. There were hundreds of distinct languages throughout the Australian continent. They also didn't have a written language. Each tribe had their own language, but many were similar so that neighbouring tribes could communicate.
