In the US, the industrial revolution was centered mainly in the northeast in the areas around Boston and within its colony of Massachusetts. In the areas early days fishing and farming were key industries. But as that area is plentiful with rivers and waterfalls, this water was excellent for delivering power to new manufacturing places that were textile mills. Later the industrial revolution began to spread to New York and New Jersey.
