A flapper was a young woman of the 1920's who was considered to be testing the acceptable behavior of previous generations. In the slang of the period, she was "the it girl." Their appearance included short, bobbed hair styles, fancy hats, and makeup. They wore short skirts or long, flat, but often gaudy dresses. Their behavior flaunted conservative social mores: smoking, drinking, casual sex, and a generally uninhibited manner. They listened and danced to the new music known as jazz and rebelled against the norms and morals of the generation of her elders. Thus as teens, they did not obey all the rules of their parents.

a flapper is a woman from the 1920's. flappers demonstrated how women of that time didn't need to wear huge dresses, long hair and cover every part of their body to be feminine, like they did in the 1800's. to break away from the strict stereotypes, they cut they're hair short, wore flat chested, short dresses that gave them a boy-ish figure, and were not afraid to expose legs, shoulders and arms. They also went to bars and clubs which was previously considered unladylike.

The flapper era was during the 1920s, also known as the Roaring Twenties, in the US. Flappers were young women who behaved and dressed in a boldly unconventional manner for women of the time period. They wore short skirts, bobbed their hair, and listened to Jazz Music. Also, flappers would flaunt their disdain with things that were considered acceptable at the time. The term flapper refers to a "new breed" of young women.
