The goal of the 1961 invasion of Cuba, known as the Bay of Pigs incident or invasion, was to oust the socialist Cuban government led by Fidel Castro. Despite being trained and assisted by U.S. military and CIA personnel, the Cuban exiles who invaded were repulsed and their takeover bid failed.

The Bay of Pigs invasion was not entirely a failure the US. knew that less then 1,500 Cuban exiles up against

25,000 army

200,000 militia

9,000 armed police

was not going to be a total take over.

And the casualties were quite different then you may expect. The total death for the Exiled Cubans was 118, and the deaths for the Cuban government was 176 - regular army and 4,000-5,000 dead armed citizenry. making a 42 / 1 kill to death ratio for these Cuban exiles. That is a really good statistic if you ask me. And if anything it was to cause turmoil in the Cuban government, so i feel that it was a success in a failure.
