This must be the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire on March 25, 1911. 146 factory workers died in the blaze. Most of them were young Italian and Jewish immigrant girls. (This was the second deadliest fire in New York history, second only to the General Slocum ferryboat tragedy in 1904.)
