Moses did not write them, God did, its part of the reason the Ark of the Covenant is so dangerous; much of God's purity, God's spiritual residue, is still on the tablets, the purity of God's spirit means that if you touch the ark, it will kill you. The evil within human beings is not compatible with the purity of the heavenly realm, that is why the Ark is lethal to grown adults. Children under 12 could touch it just fine, and even when the ark was stolen from the temple once, the Philistine giant who took it, was careful not to touch it directly. Assuming it still exists and did not "return to heaven" and all that, the Ark would be extremely dangerous; anyone who touches it, will indeed be killed, vaporized. The Ark is where the ten commandments are kept, and yes I'm sure God can make it so that it doesn't kill you but for whatever his reasons, it is stated in The Bible, that he choses not to. While its a long shot you will ever be in the Ark's pressence, if you do happen to run into it in Israel, don't touch it. Whatever you do, don't touch it.

No offense but, you westerners are dumb, arrogant, and spiritually blind; Solomon did not build the Temple to protect the Ark from thieves, he built the temple to protect his subjects, from the Ark. The Ark of the Covenant is a lot more dangerous than the way George Lucas portrayed it, and I seriously doubt it would allow itself to be taken to the United States. Sorry for being seemingly cornball here but, the Ark of the Covenant has a will of its own, and it only answers to God. If it does not want to be found, then no one on earth will find it, simple as that. It will be found, when God wants it found; do not presume the white people are so high and mighty, they can defy God's will and steal the ark.

God is beyond all of you, I do not care, how vigorously you deny his existence. Believe me, the Nazis did not find the Ark and if they did, chances are it sent them straight to hell.

Moses received the Ten Commandments from God on Mount Sinai; also called Mount Horeb. These are its two names given in the Bible. References can be found in Exodus 31:18, 34:4, 34:32; as well as in 1 Kings 8:9.
