The outcome of the Battle at Guadalcanal was the retreat of the Japanese. Although it was a tough battle for most Americans, we did win. Major King was the main person who debated the on attacking Guadalcanal. And with the help of the naval stations in Guam, the Americans were able to control most of the Pacific.
The Allies tied up so much of Japans resources trying to take the island that it was considered the battle that drained Japan. The Japanese Army, Navy and Airforce spent loads of men and material to try and take this island. They pulled back and from that never recovered. The fell back island after island until there defeat at Okinawa. After which they had no ability to stop and further Allied movements towards Japan.
