Religious freedom. The Purtians and the Quakers were discriminated against and often arrested for their beliefs. The 160 Pilgrims were from one village in Englad. They first tried moving to Amsterdam but were not happy so they returned to Enland. In 1620 they decided to go to VA and settle a few miles from Jamestown, but a storm blew them off course and they landed in Massachusetts. They came to the new world with the full intention of staying and living according to their beliefs.
