I wish it were that simple, or the Indians won the right to practice their Native Religion (Please note that the Battle of Little Bighorn stemmed from the US Government outlawing the practice of all Native Religions, or their rituals).

Because the US Calvary was slaughtered in this battle, the Indians were seen as a greater threat than ever before. Because of this the calvary was increased in size to 2,500 men and all "indian resistance" was met with a whole new level of brutality. In the end the Indians won the battle, but lost the war. It was not until 1978 that Indian Religions (or the laws banning their practice) was repealed (American Indian Religious Freedom Act).

That's true but you forgot a detailed that changed the war and made the USA forfeit. the USA was convinced that the conflict would not be resolved until native Americans return to their traditional homelands.
