Pope Leo the Third was the pope who crowned Charlemagne as Emperor of the Romans on December 25, 800 in Rome.
Pope Leo III was a common-born man, who grew up to become the Pope. Supporters of his predecessor, Hadrian I, tried to make him ineligible for the Papal office by cutting out his tongue and gouging out his eyes in April of 799. He escaped, and fled to Charlemagne, who offered him shelter and protection. A short time after, Leo crowned Charlemagne Holy Roman Emperor, an act which established the Pope as a superior figure to the king, as it was the Pope who held the power to decide who actually became king.

Hope it was somewhat helpful.

Pope Paul III was pope from 1534-1549. This was the time of the Protestant Reformation. He is best remembered for calling the Council of Trent in 1545, which reformed the Church. A reform had been called for for a very long time but had been put off to the point that Some people left the Church and started the Protestant Reformation. There was a growing problem with corrupt men taking positions within the Church. People wanted this addressed. The Council of Trent eliminated most of these abuses and clarified practically every doctrine challenged by the Protestants. This is known as the "Counter-Reformation" and is sometimes referred to as the "Catholic Reformation." He approved the newly-founded Jesuit order. He also issued a proclamation that automatically excommunicated anyone who robbed the Native Americans or enslaved them, though it was later withdrawn after complaints by the leaders of some nations. It did much help the positions of those who fought slavery even after it was revoked.
