Back in the 1950s, soda pop was available for around 10 cents a bottle. This included Coca-Cola, along with Pepsi and other popular brands. Most sodas, however, were mainly available in either bottles or fountain form. While soda cans did exist, they were put into mass production in the 1960s.

In the US, the most popular national brands included Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, 7up, Royal Crown Cola (usually just called "RC"), Nehi (in various flavors, although orange and grape were most popular), Crush (particularly Orange), and various root beer brands that are still around.

In addition, there were many regional brands that are either no longer in existence or are now extremely hard to find.
