William showed skills in organisation and administration from the beginning. From the territory of Normandy he raised an army of 4,500 archers, men-at-arms and horsemen. England had 2,500 Housecarles (few horsemen, no archers) plus 7,000 untrained Fyrd Militia.
William pretented to run away from the Saxons so they would follow them and they would attack!

Williams skills were... the normans were on top of senlac hill. so Williams army ran up the hill to the normans then ran back down and some of the the normans followed them and when the normans got down to the bottom of the hill and they relised that all of Williams army were down there and the normans that went down got killed they did it again and again.
LOL
William showed great skill by outwitting King Harold. While Harold had an equal amount of soldiers, most of them were on foot. William used cavalry and archers, luring Harold's foot soldiers in by feigning a retreat. When Harold's forces gave chase, they were routed.
William was a good leader which enabled him to control his army well and use clever tricks against Harold's army. William used many ideas some that were successful and others not so successful. He used the idea of having archer's fire arrows into the English army - which wasn't successful as the English had formed a shield wall. William also used trickery to fool the English out of their shield wall and down the hill so they could kill the soldiers. William then used a change of tactics, he told his archers to fire their arrows into the air so they would fly over the English's remaining shield wall therefore killing them. William had a lot of courage as his army, during the battle, thought he was dead. He took of his helmet and told his fleeing army that he was still alive, which gave them courage to come back and fight with him.
he was organised, he had administration and leadership skills. He also had Charisma. his army were always well prepared and sorted to where they should be
The Flemish and the Bretons fought with William against Harold.
William the Conqueror, who took over England after the Battle of Hastings, helped to bring the system of feudalism over from the country he was from to England after he had been crowned king.
Well, William would've had to do to lose the battle of hastings, such as: Not having good enough Tactics, Luck, and Resources. He was Sly, and had good Idea's, which helped alot. Hope this works for you...x--x--x love georgi walkerxx
Well after Edward the confessor died there were 3 people who thought that they should be king as he did not have any children to reign. Harold Godwinson, Harald Hardraada and William of Normandy (becomes William the Conqueror). Harold Godwinson crowned himself about 3 days after Edward the Confessor died. Then the 2 other men fought. First Harald Hardraada and Harold Godwinson (he won this battle) and it was called the Battle of Standford Bridge. Then Harold Godwinson and William of Normandy and William won. That battle was called the battle of Hastings as it was down south in Hastings. Then when William won he crowned himself on Christmas day! He then became William the Conqueror! Hope this helped! Sorry if I got some things wrong because I'm only 10! :) :)
William duke of Normandy had the surname of longsword. he was promised the thrown when King Edward died but it went to Harold Godwin. William got support from the Pope and then invaded the country with the Battle of Hastings. hope this helped :)

Harold of wessex's army were un organized howeveer Williams army used the shield wall which helped them win the battle
It helped because first he went to Harold's army to fight then he got some news that William came. Harold went to London got some people and then they walked to the south and they got tired. William had luck to fight against him and a tired army.
The Bayeux Tapestry shows Halley's comet, Harold and his people seeing it with fear in their eyes. The omen may have helped William win, but I have never read that there actually was an effect on the battle, or even on the morale of Harold's army, so asserting it happened might be going a bit too far.
There were things like crops (plants) and obviously meat. The peasants grew crops and kept livestock. As well as this many farmers were taken to fight William at the battle of Hastings because Harold had no-one to fight as he had just fought Harald Hadrada at the battle of Stamford bridge.Hope this helped
When Edward the Confessor died, there was no direct heir to the throne and the throne was passed to Harold Godwinson. Then William claimed that Edward the confessor had promised the throne to him. So they fought at the battle of Hastings for the throne.
