He helped establish a firm government and improved on how the government worked. I do agree about the Jay's treaty, it angered many people in fact to the point of rioting. And it did help with our relations with Britain. He also was the one who kept us from getting in to foreign nations' wars. But this also angered many people. Over all many things that he established are still in progress to day such as the Secretary of State and many other positions.
George Washington participated in the Continental Congress laying ground work for the Declaration of Independence, which led to the Revolution. During the Revolution Mr. Washington was the General of the Patriot forces fighting the British. He also became the first President and he recommended the Presidency not last more than 2 terms. George Washington was also really famous for a fight that he fought once 5 boolets went straight through his red coat, so Mr.Washington was a really lucky because those five boolets were shoot so close to his stomache.
George Washington's contributions to the presidency had a significant impact to the country. He led the American army in various battles including the Germantown battle and was a determined supporter of the colonial cause.
George Washington was the first president to ever be selected unanimously, basically drafted by the Electoral College 1789. He took oath of office on the 30th of April 1789. He established the cabinet which states that president may require written opinions of the heads of the executive branch department. And he established cabinet meetings.
The people to serve under him were: Thomas Jefferson as Secretary of State, Alexander Hamilton as Secretary of Treasury, and Henry Knox as Secretary of War. Washington allowed Hamilton to establish (or at least attempt to) an effective Bank (Bank of America) in order to pay off the national debt of the previous war. Washington also made the first official move which showed that the government was indeed effective (goggle or something Whiskey Rebellion of 1794). Lastly Washington's involvement or rather attempt at no involvement in the French Revolution.
George Washington was a founding father that helped the US to gain our independence. He was very influential in the starting years of the nation as a leader in the Revolutionary War and our first president.
