Causes:

The East India Company imported tea to the colonies and charged a tax on the tea and to counter this smugglers imported Dutch tea to the colonies. They were able to charge less, but when the British tea LOWERED the tax the Dutch tea became more costly. This upset the smuggler's, one was Hamilton, so they decided to go after the tea ships. The fable about the Native American dressed Son's of Liberty is just that a fable.

Result:

The king was upset when he heard about the tea and closed the harbor of Boston. He also sent more troops into the Boston area which upset the colony. This in turn resulted in April 19, 1775 with the battles of Lexington and Concord, but it won't be until 1776 with the Declaration of Independence that the war will really start.
