Cubists studied objects, broke them down into pieces, and then reassembled them in an abstract form. Their art often depicted objects from a multitude of angles, "shattering" them so to speak and creating a very ambiguous space. They wanted to simplify objects and revolutionize the way we look at art by showing us all of an objects faces at once.
