People that traveled the Oregon Trail died of drowning in river crossings, snake bites, diseases, Native American attacks, starvation and freezing in early snowstorms. People would also catch so much diseases and sicknesses because of dirty water and many other things. Also they could run out of food and die.

There were many dangers on the Oregon Trail. Mainly, people often got really sick and there were no doctors or antibiotics to help them. Furthermore, there were wild animals which could be quite dangerous. As for Native Americans, there was actually very little threat. Natives knew that the white people brought diseases with them, so they generally avoided the wagon parties.

The Mormons faced intense thunder and lightning storms that often frightened the animals. The rain and hail tore many of the tents and wagon canvases. The other problem was the never ending dust that got into everything. Rattlesnakes, wolves, and buffalo gnats were also problematic.
