If you would like more exact the first 3 European countries to settle in America were Spain, Britain, and France and the first people to settle in America were for Asia
More than four European Countries settled the Americas. The major ones were:
England, later Britain : Eastern coast of the modern US, some Caribbean islands importantly Jamaica, also Belize and Guyana in south/Central America. Later took control of and expanded French Canada and some Spanish islands in the Caribbean. (Still control to greater or lesser extent a number of Caribbean islands, and Canada is a commonwealth nation)
Spain : most of South America except Brazil, Guyana, Suriname, French Guyana. All of central America and big chunks of the west coast of the modern US. Lots of Caribbean islands, importantly Cuba. Also Florida. The first and largest colonial power until the 1600's.
Holland (Netherlands): Some of the Antilles and Islands off of South America, Originally controlled parts of the Eastern US, importantly New York (New Amsterdam), lost to Britain. (Still control 3 islands in the Caribbean)
France: Most of the Mississippi river basin, Quebec and Eastern Canada, French Guiana, Some Caribbean Islands importantly bits of the Antilles and Haiti. Lost almost all of this to Britain during the Seven Years (French and Indian) war. (Still control a couple of Caribbean islands and two very small bits of Newfoundland.)
also:
Portugal: Brazil and Barbados.
Russia: Alaska.
Denmark: Greenland and a few Caribbean islands.
Sweden: Briefly in parts of Delaware and a single Caribbean island (Tortuga).
Germany (Actually a bank in the city of Augsberg):Owned a large chunk of Venezuela for a bit in the 1500's
Courland: another German duchy also settled part of what is now the British Virgin Isles.
Scotland: Before becoming British the Scots settled in Panama, it went badly.
