What challenges did Benjamin Franklin overcome to accomplish his goals?

Ben Franklin taught in Pennsylvania. He owned slaves for a short period of time, but went against it later on. He is famous for his discovery that lightning was electricity. He thought it important that we be free, and was remembered as an American Revolutionary Leader. This was probably his biggest obstacle.

As a child, he was yanked from school by his father to work for his tempermental brother because the family needed money.

- Many Continental Congress meetings were heated and full of problems.

- The colonies had no real money.

- Well, he was basically discredited, mocked, strpeed of his position as postmaster general, and blamed by the British for the Boston Tea Party.

- Loyalists obviously did not like his opinions.

- He had to try to persuade the French to help a fledgling army and get into war against the most powerful nation in the world.

- He had serious gall stone problems.

- He spent most of his life away from his family - much of it in France.

- His own son became a Loyalist.
