If it had always rotated the other way things would probably be similar although the continents might not have identical shapes to what they are now

When a vehicle suddenly stops, the passengers are thrown forward - it is called momentum. If the earth suddenly reversed its spinning, the momentum of the worlds oceans would surge forward and completely wash over the land.

What would happen if earth rotated east to west?

we would go back in time

Hypothetically What might conditions on the earth be if it not only rotated on a north to south pole access but also on an East to West axis simultaneously?

The Earth would rotate diagonally.

If the earth rotates from east to west at one-fourth its present rate how would this affect the rising and setting of the sun and the length of the day?

If the earth rotated from east to west at 1 quarter each present rate how would this affect rising and setting of the sun and the lenght of the day?

What moves that causes the sun to rise and set?

The earth's rotation. Earth rotates east, so the sun 'rises' in the east. Then, when the earth has rotated to where the sun is exiting the angular range we can see it from, the sun "sets", and it becomes night. As far as we know, this occurs every day, but tomOreos, who knows?

How would the solar day change if the earth rotated clockwise?

Provided the rotational speed was the same as it is now, the length of of the day would not change at all. Unfortunately though, there would not be any of us around that would survive such a shift. Too bad, it would really be nice to see the sun rise in the west and set in the east after the change.

Does the earth move around the sun or does the sun move around the earth?

well it depends if you live in the west the sun would move to the east and if you live in the east the sun would move to the west

Does the sun move around the earth from west to east or east to west?

well it depends if you live in the west the sun would move to the east and if you live in the east the sun would move to the west

Why do sedimentary rock layers become folded and faulted as you move from west to east?

That would depend on the location on Earth that you were moving west to east along. The movement from west to east can be undertaken anywhere on Earth.

What does the earth spin on in an west to east direction?

If you could leave the Earth and stand somewhere above the North Pole then you would see the Earth rotating anticlockwise (counter clockwise). If you could stand above the solar system and look down onto the North Pole of the Earth and Sun, you would see the Earth orbiting the Sun anticlockwise (counter clockwise). Mind you, all the people in the Southern Hemisphere would not understand why you are standing above the North Pole, they would quite rightly, expect you to stand above the Southern Pole and rotation would be clockwise. I'm not sure what "rotate west to east" means. One can travel from West to East but not rotate West to East. Each point on the surface is heading in an easterly direction. The Sun appears to rise in the east, as you zoom underneath it.

What is the east-west line on a map that divides the earth equally?

If the earth didn't rotate would the moon rise in the east or west?
