Islam began by start of universe creation. However, Islam per Quran God revelation to prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) began by year 610 AD.

The first verse of Quran revelation to Prophet Mohamed was in year 610 AD through the angel Gabriel (or Jubril) while prophet Mohamed was in Makkah; or Mecca (in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). Quran revelation continued until Prophet Mohamed death in year 632 AD. Prophet Mohamed was born in year 570 AD.
Islam began around 622 AD but Muhammad was born at around 570 BC.

Islam beginning is from the first man on earth "Adam" and his wife "Hawa". Adam was a prophet of ALLAH SWT. Islam did't started from Muhammad SAW. As Allah mentions in Quran that Ibrahim was not a christan nor a Jewish but he was a pure Muslim.

Islam began in Mecca after Muhhamed fled from there on the Night of the Flight in 622. Muhhamed died ten years later in 632 and the religion spread to the rest of Arabia and expanded into its current position as one of the worlds largest religions.

Allah did choose Adam and Noah, the family of Abraham, and the family of 'Imran above all people,-

We(Allah) gave Moses the Book and followed him up with a succession of apostles; We gave Jesus the son of Mary Clear (Signs) and strengthened him with the holy spirit. Is it that whenever there comes to you an apostle with what ye yourselves desire not, ye are puffed up with pride?- Some ye called impostors, and others ye slay!

Islam is a religious practice, a way of life. It is not, however, an archetype for religious philosophy. The genesis of religion is hitherto unknown to man, but the earliest known recordings come to us via the Veda and Tao Teh King. The latter being the doctrine and philosophy written by Lao-tzu between 604-531 B.C., some 1000 years earlier than Muhammad came on the scene. The parables in these ancient and pious scriptures has been passed on from generation to generation and are virtually the same from religious practice to religious practice. The Tao literally means "The Way". This is not unlike the description in the Holy Quran that describes Islam as an Arabic word "Deen" which means "way of life". The interjection of man and his perversions of the earliest known religious philosophies - for his own agendas, whatever they may be- has created and promulgated what is now as many as two dozen prevalent religious practices around the world.

Islam is a practice arising from Muhammad's meditation at Mt. Hera, where, at the age of forty, he received divine revelations from God. This was in 610 A.D. The traditionalist view is that these revelations were memorized or obscurely written down during Muhammad's lifetime and, through redacting, was finalized by caliph Uthman circa 653 A.D. This gives us today's version of the Quran.
