Indoor Plumbing was invented by the Romans. Its common use in the US began around the turn of the 20th century with the advent of pumps to move water. Some inventive people had used storage tanks and hand powered pumps to provide indoor plumbing as early as the 18th century but these were not in widespread use.

If you mean what was the FIRST year, the first US cents (and half-cents) were struck in 1793 at the Philadelphia Mint. But they really weren't "invented" because that word usually refers to developing a machine or technology. Although it was one of the first (or THE first) decimal coin minted, the US cent was in part derived from the British penny which at that time had been struck in various forms for almost 800 years.

Three of the many significant things developed/invented by the Romans that have an impact on us today are central heating, concrete, and the dome. Hi Franary! I'd add the arch, indoor plumbing and the aqueducts, plus superior road building such as the Appian Way which still has a few sections preserved.
