It would seem that all you do is subtract 6000 from the present year (2013 - 6000 = 3987), then tack on the BCE to indicate it is before the Common Era. However, consider what happens if you ask what year was 2013 years ago. By the same logic 2013-2013=0 so the answer is the year zero.

So the answer to the initial question would be 3987 BCE
