yes it can, if it was excessive, it can cause seals to go out, and it is not good when the engine crank comes around and "hits" oil. just like water, it becomes real hard when something hits it at high speed. 1. how much over full is the oil? 2. did the engine run much? if so was it smoking when it was running? 3. it would take "alot" of extra oil in the crankcase to cause serious problems, the good thing is you found it. you should fix the problem right away, and if you dont notice any oil leaks, oil smoke or poor running engine, its ok. but dont do it again.
