Well, actually I had the same problem: the "Right-click --> Open in New Window" feature was failing in my computer. Hotmail messenger wouldn't open IE. So I spied the actions taken in the registry, searched for a failed action (for example a not-found result) and after a bit of analysis, found my solution. In the key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{0002DF01-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\LocalServer32 the default value should be %programfiles%\internet Explorer\iexplore.exe There are, however, more official solutions to this problem, for example in support.microsoft.com/kb/281679, but such did not solve my problem. go to start>and right click on computer, then properties, it will tell you there on the opening window.
click finder then click downloads or open a folder then click search and type the name of the download in or you could through the mac out the window and get a pc.
click activate
click on the x in the top left corner.
in Windows, press ctr-alt-del. in Ubuntu you would press ctr-alt-esc and click the window that's causing the problem.
Click on start-->Right click My Computer-->Go to Properties -->a window display -->Click on Device manager tab (Top left corner of the displayed window)
Click on the start button and right click my computer, go to manage and inside the computer management window click on the shared folder icon and then click on the share icon and in the window beside the column your working in a list will come up with all the files your sharing and a list of who is accessing them.
Go into "Tools" at the top of the window and select "Folder Options". Under the "Browse Folders" header, select "Open Each Folder In Same Window". Click Apply. That should solve your problem

It means there are two "computer name" are same on your network. To solve this problem Go to My computer's properties then click on computer name then click on "Change" and change your Computer name like server, client, mycomputer etc. click on Ok. The system ask you to restart your computer, click on yes and restart your computer. Your problem is solved.

No the account does not show in the log on window
