Being adopted dose not make it any different then being with your biological parents. They are your legal guardians so whatever laws apply to non adopted children applies to you. So wherever you are, find out what age you can legally be on your own and then proceed from there. I do believe 16 sounds a bit young to be on your own, but I haven't got a clue. 16 is really young to leave you family, so maybe talk to your parents?
when your 16 the book says i did it aswell

Requirements regarding what exactly? As adopted you are a part of their family just as if you are their biological child with the same rights etc and they decide over you just like in any other family until you reach the age of majority in your state, usually 18. If you are adopted at 16 you have the right to consent to the adoption or not. If you want early emancipation the requirements differ slightly from state to state and not all states offer it but the law is the same regardless if you are adopted or not.
Paternity leave is the limited amount of time a father is allowed to take off work when a child is born or adopted. This is provided for in the Family Medical Leave Act. The FMLA does not, however require this time off to be paid.
