Fidel Castro came to power because of the situation of the country: the division of the social classes were very marked. There were many poor people that didn't had access to education and there wasn't a progress in Cuba. Also Batista's government was very corrupt and did nothing to help the poor people. And Cuba only exported sugar when the imports were very high, so there was a loss in the country's economy, and finally Cuba was an American getaway in which these people came for holidays while they were taking advantage of the Cubans.

That's why Fidel wanted to breakaway from the US and as soon as he got in power: he blockaded the country. There weren't anymore relations with the USA neither with other countries. Because of the communist ideology imposed by this lawyer (Fidel).
