Its origin began in the 1950's. Faced with the threat of the cold war, US Military devised ARPA. ARPA later on commisioned MIT to create networks.
The end product was ARPANET. The network was small and its nodes includes UCLA and NASA. In 1973, ARPANET became global by getting in connection with London University. In the 1970's the history of internet had began and email became possible and UNIX was created.

What we know as the Internet today actually started in 1968 as a government project.
During the cold war, the government wanted a way to communicate between military bases in a way that couldn't be interrupted. The idea that they came up with was a "loop" of communications lines. This way, if one part of the loop got blown up or disrupted, the rest of the loop would still function.
It was originally called ARPANET, which was the United States Advanced Research Project Agency (ARPA) network.
Well, at the same time the space program was beginning, and the government realized a satellite was a LOT harder to hit than something on the ground, and they didn't have to run wires to it, so ARPANET was abandoned, and given to the research facilities (universities) that were already a part of it.
And Al Gore had nothing to do with any of it. ;)
It started in 1969 as a project in the us department of defence advanced research project agency. Idea was to have a computer network that linked the military contractors and universities. The computer network could withstand a nuclear attack.
The packet-switching network predecessors to the internet came online in around 1969, but the first internet connections did not become standardized until 1973.
JCR Licklider in the 1960's at MIT came up with the Internet. In 1971 the first Internet message was sent from MIT to Stanford.
In the beginning, what became known as the internet was run by the military and it was called ARPA-NET. It got its start around 1969.
1971. Two MIT students sent a message on the Internet they created.

There are websites that provide free advice, information and guidance. For example, Start-Internet-Business.com (www.start-internet-business.com). A site like that is a great starting point and guide that explains some of the different types of internet businesses you can start and offers a lot of resources that will teach you the particular knowledge you need to start the specific type of internet business that interests you.
