The Black Death began around 1346 and first reached European shores in about 1347. It "ended" between 1351-53 (really it never ended, it simply died down). There are still outbreaks of the Bubonic Plague (believed to be the cause of the epidemic) in India and parts of Africa, as well as an occasional case in the United States.

Eventually, it burned through enough of the population that there was pretty much no one left to infect, and so it died out.

The plague would eventually burn itself out As with most potentially fatal disease, after everyone has been exposed to the illness the survivors will fall into two categories: those who came down with the illness and recovered and those who have a natural immunity.

After the Bubonic Plague ran it's course, people had either built up an immunity because their systems had successfully fought off the disease, or they had a natural immunity. Either way, that particular disease became far less visible. It's still around, but modern lifestyle generally assures us that we won't be bitten by infected fleas, which turned out to be the primary delivery method of the disease.

The Black Death arrived in England in June of 1348 and was mostly over in December of 1349.

The Black Death was a specific outbreak of the Bubonic Plague, which recurred many times until the first effective treatments were developed during the 20th century. The next outbreak in England after the Black Death was in 1361-1362. There were many other outbreaks after that. One of the last, perhaps the last, was a very bad outbreak hit London in 1665-1666.

The Black Death usually ended in any area it hit within a few months. It began in Europe in 1347, and continued to spread until 1351.

The term Black Death is a name for a specific outbreak of bubonic plague. The plague struck many times in Europe over the years, but the later outbreaks were nowhere near as bad as the Black Death. The last widespread outbreak ended in 1959. People still get it from time to time, but it is easily treated in its early stages using commonly available modern medicines.

All viruses will run out of hosts to infect. Hosts either have strong immune systems, or the infected people recover or die. However, when a virus ends in one area, it does not mean the virus died. It just needs to find a new population of hosts.
