There have been several ice ages in the past; the most recent true major ice age started in the Pleistocene epoch 1.6 million years ago. However, it also depends upon one's definition of "ice age". Scientists cannot seem to agree on the answer to this. A mini-ice age is believed to have occurred during the late middle ages, as conditions were clearly colder then than now, with temperatures dropping to sub-zero in many placed across Europe. Ths was during the reign of Queen Victoria, when the River Thames froze over and they had fairs, stalls, and bonfires on the ice. From another contributor: Some scientists would say we haven't even come out of an ice age; global warming is nothing compared to what heating periods the world has been through, and there is evidence that there were plants on the north pole. There was only a glacial period that ended 12,000 years ago, according to some estimates.

The LAST ice age ended 12,000 years ago.

The ice age is still with us, that is why one sixth of the Earth is covered in ice. It started about 2.6 million years ago and we are living in a warm period known as an "interglacial". The last glaciation ended between 10,000 and 12,000 years ago depending on which part of the world you live.
The last ice age was in 10,000 years ago and we are still in it
The Last Gracial Episode occurred 100000 to 10000 years ago.

There have been at least four major ice ages in the Earth's past. The earliest hypothesized ice age, called the Huronian, was around 2.7 to 2.3 billion years ago during the early Proterozoic Eon. The earliest well-documented ice age, and probably the most severe of the last 1 billion years, occurred from 850 to 630 million years ago. A minor ice age, the Andean-Saharan, occurred from 460 to 430 million years ago, during the Late Ordovician and the Silurian period. There were extensive polar ice caps at intervals from 350 to 260 million years ago.

While an ice sheet on Antarctica began to grow some 20 million years ago. During the late Pliocene the spread of ice sheets in the Northern Hemisphere began. Since then, the world has seen cycles of glaciation with ice sheets advancing and retreating on 40,000- and 100,000-year time scales called glacials (glacial advance) and interglacials (glacial retreat). The earth is currently in an interglacial, and the last glacial period ended about 10,000 years ago.

It is still here and it started about 2.6 million years ago. We don't notice it so much because we are in a warm period called an interglacial, between glaciations.

The most recent "ice age" (glacial maximum) was about 20,000 years ago, and ended between 11,500 and 14,000 years ago when glaciers retreated from central North America and Europe.

The most recent ice age ended how many years ago?

The last glacial period is sometimes colloquially referred to as the 'last ice age'. But the use of 'ice age' is incorrect. Glacials, on the other hand, refer to colder phases within an ice age that separate interglacials. The end of the last glacial period is not the end of the last ice age. The end of the last glacial period was about 10,500 BCE, while the end of the last ice age has not yet come.

Was there a mass extinction during the last ice age?

Many geologists consider what you call the "last ice age" to be the last glacial of the present Ice Age, with the ice retreat starting only about 10-12ka. There was no mass extinction. A good many species did migrate or disappear altogther as the ice retreated, but in no way was it a mass extinction.
