You don't have to apply to take the SAT. You can sign up for the SAT at www.collegeboard.com when you're ready to take it. The best time to start taking the SAT is by the spring of your junior year of hgih school. Try to do some preparation before taking the actual exam.

No... Canadian schools do not require SAT scores. However, if you are an international student applying from the US, chances are they will request it (Especially top ranked schools like McGill)
