Tax seasons runs from January through mid-April for many individual taxpayers. If your tax year ends on December 31, then your tax return reporting the previous year's tax information is due by April 15. If April 15 falls on a weekend, then the deadline is extended to the next business day. You can file any time during tax season. As long as your envelope is properly addressed and postmarked by midnight on April 15, then it's considered timely. If April 15 falls on a weekend, then the deadline is extended to the next business day.
