Circumcision has risks at any age, especially for infants. While most

It is never safe to circumsise a baby.

circumcisions do not have serious complications, there are risks to the procedure, including severe pain, prolonged bleeding, and infection. Every year there are a small number of deaths due to complications of infant circumcision. There are also cases of surgical error causing irreversible injuries to the penis. Given that circumcision has known medical risks and no known medical benefits, most doctors recommend against circumcision.

Circumcision is safest with adult or adolescent men who are able to keep the surgical site clean following the surgery.

Circumcision is extremely uncommon in most of the world, and even in the United States circumcision is far less common now than it once was. During the 1970s and 1980, around 80% of male infants were circumcised in the United States. A study conducted in the United States from 2005-2007 found that circumcision rates had fallen to below 40% in most of the United States. In the western United States, fewer than 25% of infant males were circumcised in 2005-2007.

Circumcision can have long lasting consequences. Circumcision removes a normal part of the penis that functions to protect the glans of the penis. Removal of the foreskin can cause decreased sensitivity of the penis and decreased pleasure during sexual intercourse. This is yet another reason why circumcision is becoming increasingly uncommon.

It is normal for the foreskin of infants and children to be unable to be pulled back. because the glans penis are not yet fully developed at birth. at this time the foreskin is actually connected to the glans penis like a fingernail to your finger and tearing the foreskin loose is just as painful to the child. The age at which the foreskin can retract varies widely. Some boys foreskins may retract as early as age 3 while others will not be able to retract until puberty.

A parent or caregiver should never try to retract the foreskin of an infant or child, even when changing diapers or bathing the child. Simply washing the outside of the penis is sufficient. Attempting to force the foreskin back can cause pain and even tear the penis.

Once a boy can retract his foreskin, he should be taught to pull the foreskin back to wash the head of the penis while taking a bath or shower.

Many men are able to pull the foreskin back all the way to expose the entire head of the penis. Other men may be able to only pull the foreskin back partially or not at all. If this is causing pain or discomfort, the opening of the foreskin can gradually be stretched with the use of a corticosteroid cream. For more information on this, search Wikianswers for "How do you stretch your foreskin?"

In infants and boys it is normal that the foreskin can not be pulled back. The foreskin gradually relaxes over time, and for most boys they are able to pull back the foreskin by puberty.

You can gently work on this from any age you chose. The fore skin is a pleasant thing to handle and young boys like to handle and fiddle around with it. Because we spend so much time dressed it tends to stay tight because of lack of manipulation. However there are plenty of opportunities for this when you are having a bath for instance and when you are in bed or in private. The foreskin is made to stretch and eventually be able to more easily backwards and forwards totally exposing the glans penis or covering it. The Glans are fused to the foreskin at birth as they are usually not fully developed yet however they separate sometimes within weeks and usually within a few years and in some cased it can take into puberty or beyond. This is nothing to be concerned about however and if the separation is not complete when it becomes problem it can be set right without having anything mayor and damaging done like circumcision. If the foreskin is very tight and you are having difficulty training it to become loose there are creams and exercises that can be used to fix the problem. In the USA there is still a propensity to simply amputate the foreskin rather then go to the trouble of fixing the problem. Remember however that the foreskin is an important part of the penis and serves to protect the sensitivity of the glans as well as being a powerful erogenous canter it 'self that serves to maximise your sexual pleasure and performance and the pleasure and comfort your partner experiences. You can get more information on this by Going to the top of this page and asking "how do I loosen my foreskin". Or Googling "Foreskin exercises".

You should never push back a Childs foreskin. At birth the foreskin of a child is fused to the foreskin much like the fingernail is fused to the finger. You can only tear it loose and as a result cause pain and possibly considerable damage to the glans penis. (This is a fate that awaits all infants that are genitally mutilated through circumcision) You should leave it right alone. You don't have to be concerned about hygiene as that is taken care of by the penis itself. The foreskin may become free from the glans at any time (usually before age 8) but sometimes it may take longer. Let your son make up his own mind when he wants to pull it back, there is no need to risk hurting him, there is no reason to hurry,

What could happen if a boy's penile foreskin is forced back too early?

The foreskin of an uncircumsized newborn should NEVER be pulled back; it is a myth and it is dangerous to do this. It should never be forced back by a parent, no matter what the reason the parent has. Keep your hands off of it. Tissues of the glans penis and of the covering foreskin are not yet differentiated, and the foreskin should be left alone. Some physicians consider that an unretracted foreskin can be normal and non-problematic even as late as puberty. Yes, there can be problems with the foreskin, but pathological phimosis (a medically problematic unretractable foreskin) is virtually NEVER a competent diagnosis at birth.AnswerThe foreskin does not retract at birth. Forcing it back at this age can cause tearing and scarring meaning it will be difficult to retract in the future.

When i clean my penis it needs to be soft or i cant retract the foreskin but i always erect and cant retract it how do i keep my penis soft?

Take a cold shower.

Why do some men have skin over there penis?

Do you mean why do men retract their foreskins and expose the end (the glans) of their penis? This generally occurs all by itself when the penis is erect, as the normally loose foreskin is stretched tight when the penis stiffens and extends in length. Many guys also retract the foreskin by hand when they urinate because it reduces the likelyhood of their urine splashing around, it also avoids trapping urine droplets under the foreskin. All guys should retract their foreskin when bathing or showering to ensure that they wash their penis properly and thus avoid unpleasant smells and infections.

My foreskin removes itself i don't do anything for circumcision?

During sexual stimulation your foreskin naturally tends to retract, you do not need a circumcision to have intercourse. It is mostly done for cultural or higienic purposes.

What age will you notice you have phimosis?

Firstly, you shouldn't worry about having a tight foreskin (Phimosis) because there is always something that can be done to help and alleviate the condition. You may need to visit your GP for advice or referral to a Urologist for consultation and/or treatment if by the time you are an adult the skin is still tight and non-retractable. 95% of males can retract their foreskin by adulthood.Boys foreskins are fused to the glans at birth and do not retract until somewhere between the ages of 5-years-old and the teenage years, It varies. There should be no pressure put upon any boy to forcefully retract the skin as this can cause damage to the foreskin with stretching or splitting the skin thus causing scarring, and be dangerous if the foreskin was to get stuck behind the glans (Paraphimosis), this then causing a medical emergency ! If there is scarring on the foreskin it can make it harder to retract, if at all.Phimosis can be treated either by yourself or with medical assistance:By gentle stretching of the skin, with or without the use of a topical steroid cream prescribed by your GP.By changing masturbation habits and techniques. Try a different method to see if you can gently pull the foreskin back and forth when erect.Preputioplasty; which is minor plastic surgery to make a small slit cut into the tight ring on the foreskin making it wider to retract over the glans. There is always a risk that this simple surgery turns the cut into scarring as it heals which then reduces the width, and maybe causing phimosis to return again.Circumcision; which is to remove the foreskin completely and the more radical and severe of treatments. Most males can manage to function fully sexually though without the need for circumcision, even without the foreskin being able to fully retract.

What is an overly aggressive circumcision?

when a circumcision is done it is usually done to a child with a foreskin that does not retract. It is easy with something that small to cut of more foreskin then there actually is . this leads to a situation where the remaining skin is pulled up and is tightened over the penis behind the glans leading to painful erections , hair up the shaft of the penis and badly bent erections.

Is puberty embarrassing?

I do not think you have anything to worry about. If you were asking these questions at age of 18 or 20 years, then I could understand your concerns. Just give yourself a few years and you should be ok. As for the foreskin not retracting, you know, it is so silly to think that you have to do things to hurt yourself or to be like somebody else. Just because someone says you have to retract your foreskin why do you think you have to do it? The reasoning is not correct that if a foreskin isn't retractable it can cause problems with cleaning and sex, and if it doesn't retract it's not functioning properly. There actually are millions of men in the world at any one time, myself included, who do not retract their foreskin. I have a number of current patients in a similar condition and have, in the past, treated men in Europe, Asia and other countries with the condition of tight foreskin. Not one that I have personally met and not one that I have ever read about has a problem with cleaning. Nor do they have problems with masturbation or sex. And I have to join with them in saying that it is ridiculous to suggest that our penises are not functioning properly. Your penis and your foreskin are a unique team. They work together almost always in perfect harmony. Some guys have a foreskin that retracts, so they retract it. Some guys have a foreskin that does not retract, so they leave it alone. Some guys have had their foreskin removed and no longer have a choice. If you are watching videos, then the guys are probably porn stars and they do so much drugs and other stuff that their sexuality is no longer normal in any case. I would not worry about them. If your foreskin does not easily retract, do not try to force it to. It does not have to. You do not have to pull the foreskin back to put a condom on, to masturbate, or to have sex. It is an absolute nonsense to think so. Only fools will tell you this is necessary. Some people label a tight foreskin as phimosis. Generally people with a tight foreskin do not have phimosis, they just have a tight foreskin. There are millions of guys in the world with this condition which is quite normal. The only abnormal thing is when you try to stretch a foreskin that does not need to be stretched or try to use medications that rarely have any beneficial result. The unfortunate thing is that retraction has been taught, mainly in USA, because personal hygiene was not taught. Washing a penis with the foreskin covered (not retracted) is very easily achieved and very efficient. Any boy or man can be shown how to do it if they are having a problem. The same goes for masturbation or sex. Many will argue that it is much more effective and it certainly feels great. I cant compare it to an open foreskin, because I have never done it that way. Just leave your foreskin as it was intended to be. Anything you do to yourself that hurts is normally not a good thing to do, so don't do it.

How do men clean their penises?

Keeping penis clean is very important. 1.) Gently pull the foreskin back. 2.) Rinse with warm water only. Soap under the foreskin can cause irritation and swelling. 3.) Pull the foreskin back in place over the head of your penis. Circumcised men can directly use warm water and soap and clean it carefully.

Why can't you see your bell end?

You are not circumcised from your description. By about 16 or so your foreskin will retract and you should be able to fully expose the glans. Start stretching - NOW. Use your fingers to spread the opening OR and pull down on the shaft skin

What is the medical term meaning surgical removal of the foreskin on the penis?

phimosis: narrowing of the opening of the foreskin (prepuce) over the glans penisThis can be overcome with simple foreskin stretching exercises.PhimosisphimosisIf the foreskin becomes narrowed to the point where it cannot be comfortably retracted, it is a condition called phimosis. There are several different techniques that could be used to alleviate this, including stretching, steroid cream, or circumcision. But if you are having trouble retracting your foreskin, you should have it evaluated by a trained physician, because the treatment depends on the particular person. For instance if you stretch it inappropriately, you can cause scar tissue formation, which would force you to get a circumcision.PhimosisThe incorect diagnosis of "Phimosis" in young boys is not unusual, aspecialy in the US where there is a culture that encourages Circumsicisionmost foreskin problems can be treated without circumcision as is apperent from the European experience where less the 3% on average are circumcised and many of those for cultural and religious reasons. The #1 rule for intact care is to leave it alone. The first person to retract a boy's foreskin should be the boy himself.Until then, just wipe it off like you would a your hands finger or rinseit in plain water in the bath.Once a boy can retract the foreskin himself, all he needs to do is "RETRACT it and RINSE it", in the shower or bath.phimosis

You are fourteen and you have a normal sized penis but have only seen the tip of your glans is this normal?

If you cannot retract the foreskin by the age of 14, that is not normal. It could be a condition called phimosis and you should see your doctor to see how to get it corrected. When you are uncircumcised, a cheezy substance builds up between your foreskin and the glans of your penis called smegma. If not washed out properly it can lead to penile cancer.

What happens if a man gets circumcised?

Nothing that should not happen, the thing seems to work just fine even without having it mutilated. It protects the sensitivity of the glans penis and plays a big part in sexual pleasure itself. It must be kept in mind however that if you do not mutilate the end of a baby's penis by cutting the foreskin of, the child needs to be taught that proper hygiene is required or discomfort and pain can be a result , after he is able to retract the foreskin. The term smegma is one that relates to the collection of dirt under the foreskin of someone that does not wash properly. However that term is wrong Smegma is the cast of skin particles and other excretions that are produced under the foreskin to protect the glans and mucuos membranes in that area. there is no dirt involved. A boy should be the first to pull back his own foreskin when he feels it is right to do so. before that he need not worry about washing under it as no contamination can take place there.
