Anime-Light was shot by Matsuda two times then escapes to another warehouse

where he lays on the stairs Ryuk says "it was fun light" he writes his name when light is about to die he sees a vision of l then closes his eyes.

In the anime/manga Light is discovered as Kira by Near and continually shot by Matsuda after Light tries to write Nea'rs name down on a scrap of paper from the Death Note. Light survives and runs out of the war house that they are in. No one follows Light because they know he will die. After Light finally gives up on life after being shot Ryuuk writes Light's name in his Death Note and he dies.

If you want to know what happens after he dies in the manga he appears in the Shinigami World and has to die the exact same death as the people he killed. Ryuuk continues to tell Light that if he killed 10000 people he has to die 10000 times.

If you want to know what happens in the anime Light ends up being a Shinigami. This was an extra part in Death Note only shown in Japan.

Actually I think Light dies not simply because he is the owner of a death note, but because he miscalculated the situation. It is however, possible that this miscalculation was do to the "misfortune," brought on by his death note. Light failed to see the unexpected aspect of the situation. The one he chose to lend his note to, Mikami, had a usual pattern which detective N noticed. When Mikami strayed from his normal routine it allowed N to notice the prospect of another book, aka the real one. Light had suspected N to notice the pattern, and he did, but he also discovered the second death note as well, tampering with both of them before he and Light would meet. If light was to live the simple solution would have been to release ownership of the note before meeting N. That way when Mikami looked through the door crack to write their names he would still see Light's life span and he would have written down his name with the others, or he would have been confused and not have written down any of the names in fear of killing his "god." This way Light would have lost his memory of being Kira but would have lived continue the investigation with N. *Note: this would not work if Mikami could recognize Light's image or voice* Light dies simply because he can no longer entertain Ryuk, and Ryuk does not wish to wait to collect the death note since a shinigami must wait to collect the death note that he lets touch the ground of the human world. LIGHT DID NOT DIE BECAUSE HE WAS "EVIL." He simply has a strong sense of justice, and the power to express it.

I've only been watching Death Note for a few hours but it says ' Every Time a person uses the DEATH NOTE to kill some His/Her own life span was to decrease a little and as we all know Light kill loads of people and my guess is the note book all been use and there's no page left and that's is when his God Of Death Kills him. This might not be right But that is my guess.

He gets killed by Ryuk, i the begining ryuk tells light that if he writes in ryuks death note, when light dies it will be by that death note by ryuk. no quotes but that basicly what happens.

Depends wether you're asking about the Anime or the Manga. But in the anime he dies in the very last episode. (I'd imagine that he would die in the last volume of the manga)
