∙ 6y agoThey never were in US schools. The constitution in the 2nd amendment states that we have a freedom of religion and to put the 10 commandments in a public school supported by taxpayers is to deny religious freedom to those who aren't of the Christian faith. Our founding fathers had experienced what a state run sanctioned religion does to people and wanted to have a secular democracy. The reasons why so many people came to the colonies was to escape the persecution of the state for not following the state run religion. People were arrested, tortured, and died because of their religion.
