Longer answer: The first historically recognized step towards the creation of the first atomic bomb took place one month before the start of World War II; August 1939. Albert Einstein signed a letter, written by Leo Szilard, addressed to American president Franklin D. Roosevelt advising him to fund research into the possibility of using nuclear fission as a weapon in the event that Nazi Germany may also be conducting such research. This research, which was soon approved, became known as The Manhattan Project (1939-1947).
Over the next six years, extensive tests, research and construction on various test models and nuclear reactors would help shape the first nuclear weapon, which was detonated on July 16, 1945 near Alamogordo, New Mexico. This test is commonly known as "Trinity" and it marked the start of a new era of weaponry and warfare.
Just eight days after the first test, president Harry S. Truman revealed to the Soviets that he had a powerful new weapon of unspecified type (although Truman did not say it was nuclear Stalin already knew this because of spys in the Manhattan Project), and thirteen days after that "Little Boy" was dropped; the first nuclear weapon to be used on an enemy target. (Hiroshima, Japan)
Three days later, a second bomb, "Fat Man", was used against Nagasaki, Japan. With this final strike, Japan surrendered six days later. The Manhattan Project had plans and had built all the facilities to drop 21 more atomic bombs (for a total of 23) on Japan in 1945 had they not surrendered when they did.
Following the war, several more tests continued (Operation Crossroads: shots Able & Baker, summer 1946) and on January 1, 1947, the Atomic Energy Act began effect, and the Manhattan Project was officially turned over to the United States Atomic Energy Commission.
It was conducted by the United States on July 16, 1945,This was the first atomic bomb invented and tested. Furthermore, the Soviet Union developed the bomb four years later. Various research is still being looked upon, when it comes to Soviets. It was tested in 1945 started in 1939.

Neither invented the atomic bomb, Leo Szilard invented it in 1933.
Nobel invented dynamite, not atomic bombs.
The atomic bomb was not invented by a project, it was invented by Leo Szilard in 1933.However the Manhattan Project built the first ones in 1945.
Einstein did not invent the atomic bomb, Leo Szilard did.
